Technically speaking a doner kebab and shawarma are two different, if related, foods. The "salad" they're accompanied with and sometimes the shape of the bread being the main differences. However, this may not be a distinction we care about given it can often be difficult to tell the difference between the two visually.

Idk if it's different in the west but in here kebab is a completely different thing from shawrma. From the way it looks to the way it's cooked.

For meat wrapped in bread (döner kebab), use shawarma.

They both are the name of a different cuisine, as far as I know they don't have to be served with bread although commonly is.
They are prepared differently but I wouldn't be able to distinguish it from the anime looks.
