This couldn't be simpler. Tank tops are just sleeveless shirts, and as such we do not need specific color/type tags for them. It would be akin to making tags like blue t-shirt, print cropped shirt or torn see-through shirt.

Searching for sleeveless shirt and tank top in Google images gives identical results. Even the Wikipedia article for tank tops redirects to their article for sleeveless shirt. To the majority of the English-speaking world, tank tops are at most a subset of sleeveless shirts and to continue to distinguish between them would be to propagate a distinction that exists solely on Danbooru.

Tank tops aren't shirts no more than camisoles are, and the Wikipedia article doesn't really matter that much since we don't do everything the same as they do.

You're saying tank tops aren't shirts just because we don't copy Wikipedia? That has essentially zero relevance to whether or not they are shirts. Us inventing stupid definitions of tags that is opposed to how everyone else uses them has historically never worked.

Tank tops aren't shirts no more than camisoles are...

Do you have any actual reasoning or evidence behind this statement?

Wikipedia is a particularly good metric when it comes to things commonplace in Western society, such as everyday clothing. My point was not that we should adopt Wikipedia's usage because that's what Wikipedia does, my point was that when you check both Wikipedia and Google (two of the most widely used information repositories on the Western internet) they both indicate in no uncertain terms that "tank top" and "sleeveless shirt" are used interchangeably by a majority of their English-speaking users.
