Archetype characters

Posted under General

So I was trying to clean up some archetype character tags, but it's not always clear when does a derivative become independent enough to receive its own tag? For example that boy form the sword in the stone doesn't (and wiki specifies that he should share the same tag as the archetype), makes me think that if the story is still strongly connected to the original it's fine to stick with the original's tag. But this feels wrong for many of the more recent copyrights, simply because of the fandom's recognition changes with the development of otaku culture. Adaptations back in the days like Nezha nao hai (1979) is probably considered the same as the myth character, but I doubt people feel the same about ne zha (2019 movie). Or is it just because no one bothered to create tags for them?
