META ships is a tricky case. They share the same name as "OG" ships but Azur Lane's dev does not considerate them as the same character unlike other version of the same character (Muse, II) and they can't share skins with "OG" version.
If I understand correctly (Azur Lane's lore is way too convoluted) each META ship come from a different timeline and each of them seem to be the last survivor of their respective timeline.
I don't know if Meta boats should be atttached to their OG char. (if this is the case then a code_g_(azur_lane) -> enterprise_(azur_lane) implication should be created)
Long time player, but I somewhat stopped with trying to understand the lore and the story because it's all over the place. There's a video that explains the lore of the game, in order, up to events just prior to Shimakaze's premier event.
META ships were a creation from an alternative timeline, and I believe Code G (Enterprise META) was the first of such creations, followed by Ember (Takao META)... but then I've seen CG for Bon Homme Richard who may actually be the first ever to have a META form as well as the first ever KANSEN or something. (I'd have to re-read some of the OP Siren notes, there are mentions of Bon Homme specifically in there.)
Since there are Sirens of other timelines, as noted by Observer and Observer Zero, there seems to be some sort of "alliance" of sorts occasionally between the Ashes and Sirens. But it's real muddy because I don't really understand the story half the time.
For the issue at hand, I'd leave the META ships as a separate entry. Part of my reasoning is because the regular girls have their own personality, say Fusou or Yamashiro, but their META variants are completely different entities. One can see this with Helena as well. Some other girls I haven't dug into their voice lines, but personality differences may be less noticeable on some of them.
As for Muse and II ships, I'm fine with those implications as they are virtually the same ships. Though the II ships are more of a modern iteration of the same class of ship, by WWII standards anyway.
