The suffix (fanfic) has some legacy in the form of Kotomine Shirou (fanfic), but I feel like more often than not, if the original artist's name isn't used as the suffix (which wouldn't apply to this case anyway), the original copyright is used as the suffix because, even if it isn't officially affiliated, it's directed based on it (assuming there is a need for a suffix in the first place, and often there isn't, unlike here).
We also follow this format with touhou fanwork copyright tags.
