The wiki page for death states “Tag for posts that feature dead or dying people...”.

Corpses are dead people.

Click the "bulk update request #13287" link, it should give you the option to reject it.

Death for characters that are dying. Corpse for dead characters. "Death" shouldn't be both so it doesn't become redudant with "Corpse".

There's also a Dying tag, with the wiki: "Indicates a character(s) on the verge of death."
IMO, "Death" could be aliased to "Dying" to have a clearer name.
