I do think there is a use to the list strictly in terms of keeping track of what VTubers we actually have tagged, since there have been cases of VTubers unnecessarily having duplicate chartags. Plus, having a singular list has its benefit in that it can be used as a reference to generate a list of all chartags that appear under virtual youtuber that aren't on the list - a labor-intensive solution, since it ultimately requires you to check every chartag included in that, but it does deal with both tagged and untagged VTubers, especially the latter as there have been numerous instances where the only one not tagged in an image was the VTuber in question, and we don't have any other reasonable alternatives in finding them. We also have plenty of VTubers that do not have entries over at the Wikia at all.
However, splitting the list in two could work, but it would be a hard prospect to achieve, given the fact that we still haven't done a full clean-up of all indie VTubers, identifying their genuine affiliations, and properly organizing them. Similarly, we still don't have all VTuber chartags on the list. I could imagine a division into list_of_solo_indie_virtual_youtubers and list_of_virtual_youtuber_groups, but you'd have difficulties all the way really.
Just straight up nuking the list isn't a feasible option as you end up running the risk of just losing track of all the minor VTuber chartags, and leaving the potential for many more chartag dupes to emerge.
