alias faker_(lord_el-melloi_ii_case_files) -> hephaestion_(fate)

Posted under Tags

This alias is not good because hephaestion_(fate) already exists for the actual Hephaestion contained in Iskandar's Noble Phantasm as seen in Fate/Zero (even though it has only one picture, but y'know).

Since they're different characters, either that tag needs to be renamed (the likelier option considering how minor that character is, even if I'm not sure what to rename it), or this new one needs to be named differently, like hephaestion_(pretender)_(fate).

The current tag probably should be changed since, at least as far as I can tell, it's fan speculation, similar to how Morgan le Fey was prior to Apocrypha (see post #1310955).

Ah, that's right, I missed the commentary on the one (1) picture populating that tag mentioning that it's a fan design...
I guess the canon character should take precedence, then, as much as I don't like the rebranding from Faker to Pretender since they're supposed to be different things

Question is what to name that other one? Add the artist tag to differentiate it?

Let's see, Hephaestion exists in Fate (series) as a male character. Similar to how Morgan le Fay was before Stay Night's manga/Apocrypha/Grand Order, he has no official design "yet". I say this because knowing Type-Moon works, there's always a chance of him being introduced unexpectedly. Faker is Hephaestion's sister, she's called that way because she doesn't have a real name and falsely appears using her brother's name in Lord El-Melloi II Case Files, definitely the reason why she will be a Pretender class in Fate/Grand Order. Her entire shtick is not having a name.

I think it's better to keep both tags separated and the existence of post #1209081 is enough to have a character tag for him. But wait for her release in Fate/Grand Order, she could get a name in her interactions or voice lines, if she doesn't, rename her's to something more specific regardless.

Just drop the _(fate) part from the character tag and add an "original" tag to the post?

Considering she has been revealed in a recent FGO stream to being an upcoming Pretender Class Servant in the Case Files event rerun. Alongside that she does have an official true name that is not Hephaestion albeit it is still canon she has no actual "real name", she never had one. Revealed in the original light novel series her official true name is "Iskandar's Shadow". Albeit FGO she is still using Hephaestion as a false name.

That's one of the titles she's referred to alongside Faker and Hephaestion instead of a true name.

Renaming her to this is indeed broader than "Faker (Lord El-Melloi II Case Files)", though some people probably would know her solely by Hephaestion, especially FGO players. You could alias something like the suggested "hephaestion_(pretender)_(fate)" to this for easier search, but I still think we should wait for the event to actually release in the next few days and more artworks to come.

To add more info to the topic, until now, Pixiv artists/users were using the ヘファイスティオン(Fate), ヘファイスティオン (Hephaestion) and フェイカー(Fate) (Faker) tags for her.

Update: Revealed in the in the final chapters of Plus Episode, unlocked by beating Mnemosyne in the Lord El-Melloi II Case Files collab event, her true name in Fate/Grand Order is Hephaestion Mnemosyne.

Wow Nasu you sure spoil us! Yet another "haha syke you thought it was X but actually it's Y" so early into 2022? Gee whiz!

I'm not sure what to make of the tag as a result, though. Because that means even if Faker from Case Files and Pretender from Grand Order look identical, they're technically different characters due to that garbage sorry I mean plot twist. So big ??? about the rename? I actually have no clue how to really handle it.

LOL. I think they actually helped us with the rename, it's like a Koyanskaya of Light x Koyanskaya of Darkness situation again, just use one tag for both. It's still the same character, but mixed lorewise with a small fraction of Mnemosyne.

I request for @AyaReiko to edit the BUR to hephaestion_mnemosyne_(fate) or without the qualifier.

In that case then I think keeping it to "Hephaestion" without the Mnemosyne part would be the better alternative. Lumping it all under Hephaestion Mnemosyne name would be kind of like lumping all the Koyanskayas under a tag that was specifically "Koyanskaya of Light" or such?

I still believe in the probability of the real Hephaestion showing up someday, but you're right, guess we should differentiate them only if it really happens.

If that ever happens I reckon we can move this one to _(pretender)_(fate) or hephaestion_mnemosyne to make room for the real one.
