mimikaki is simply the Japanese word for ear pick (耳掻き). The ear_pick tag itself does not currently exist, leading to confusion with other tags, such as ear_picking.

mimikaki on danbooru is specifically for the kind of cotton swab in post #4692898. "ear pick" is too generic. It could be mistaken for any sort of ear cleaner, or for the act of picking ears.

I personally don't feel that it's necessary to distinguish this specific type of pick for tagging purposes since, as a separate ear_pick tag doesn't even exist, this indicates that virtually all ear pick posts uploaded are of the cotton pick style "mimikaki".

But if it must be, then I'd at least imply mimikaki -> ear_pick. Where mimikaki is a subset of ear picks. Or better yet, imply ear_cleaner which previously was used to suggest that all ear cleaners and ear picks are also mimikaki. And then alias ear_pick -> ear_cleaner.

I'd also argue that ear_pick isn't something that would be confused with the act of picking ears. Intuitively, I'd think of a tag ending in ~ing, as that's typically the wording for tags where characters are performing an action. For which we have both ear_picking and ear_cleaning.

In fact, contrary to that point, about half of the posts originally under ear_picking were posts with mimikaki in them, a number of which were missing the mimikaki tag. One of which did not even have the character holding the ear pick (post #4460503). This would suggest that people are confusing ear_picking for mimikaki, because of the lack of an ear_pick tag.

I believe this isn't going to work, implications can't be done if the child tag would make up more than 95% of the parent tag. Since ear_cleaner doesn't exist, it would just be 100% mimikaki. Ear cleaner would need to be populated with non-mimikaki posts first, and if none exist then the tag is obviously useless. Under ear_cleaning -mimikaki post #3416538 seems to be the only one that doesn't feature an untagged mimikaki or a cotton swab, and cotton swabs are not specifically ear cleaners.
