Most other gentilics are already employed as language aliases and there is no gentilic even in the rest of cases where it wouldn't apply: no canadian, no australian. It's also gnarly granularity for tags as small and by 'tag what you see' the only reason to tag mexican is when it's a person or attire pertaining to the country of mexico.

Off the top of my head, the largest tag like this is Egyptian, which is distinct from Egypt.

This is a very similar discussion to the topic of miko and japanese clothes, as I feel Egyptian could easily be aliased to Egyptian clothes and nobody would notice, maybe vice-versa as Egyptian covers anything vaguely alluding like post #4570157 (Q). The same applies to Mexican and Mexican dress, brazilian. Only specific culturally prevalent countries seem to get these tags

Aliasing Egyptian is difficult because sometimes it's tagged based on makeup or jewelry rather than on clothing per se.

We also have Native American, Indian, British, and Arabian, which I'm not sure what to do with.

There are also things like post #1112455 where there aren't any human characters present with any sort of clothing or accessories, and the tag is set based on style or theme alone.

The British tag's wiki has the same Other Name as the tag for the United Kingdom, and there doesn't seem to be anything with the tag itself that suggests it should be distinct from the UK tag or any of the other British-adjacent tags.

With the recent trend of Worldwide Mikus, being able to tag them in an easy fashion for search accessibility has become paramount, but while this has largely meant tagging them with their appropriate country, ala hatsune_miku germany, some Mikus defy this. The Desi Mikus are one such example, because unless the artist states they are from a specific South Asian country, then you're basically left in the dark. Desi is a broad term used to refer to the peoples of the Indian subcontitent.

The closest thing we have to a Desi tag is the Indian tag, but tagging Indian on a post that be depicting a Desi from Pakistan or Bangladesh doesn't seem right, plus apparently according to the tag it applies to both Desi and Southeast Asians (given the evocation of "East Indian/South Asian"), which just seems kind of broad. So I want to suggest renaming the tag to the narrower Desi, since I assume 99% of the tag is just them, and deprecating Indian.

We already agreed in topic #24572 that naming the tag simply as "Egyptian" is problematic, since the tag Egypt is not just for ancient Egypt. So it's now a time to finally done it once and for all.

I was too late to vote but I'd also +1 this, it also has the benefit of not being mistagged with native american.
