More generic name. Maybe reverse? Wand vibrator has 11 million results on google compared to 4.4 million for the Hitachi.

It might be confused with actual wands or other stick like objects being used as vibrators.

It should be in reverse imo. This is basically same as calling all game consoles Nintendo.

I'd say it's a genericized trademark, like popsicle, or flip phone, or saying something is photoshopped.
