alias camera_frame -> viewfinder

Ah, I think that might be what I was searching for instead. Is "viewfinder" the "frame" in a camera interface? If yes I'll change the BUR to point to that instead.

I think it technically refers to the device (attached or integrated into the camera) that provides the "frame", and not the actual "frame" itself? One looks into the "viewfinder" to see the "frame". And I think the more precise term for the "frame" is "viewfinder frame". That said, English speakers often use both "viewfinder" and "frame" (and "camera frame") interchangeably, and I'm not an avid camera person myself, so I'm not 100% sure about the distinction between the terms. Sorry.

At a glance the viewfinder tag seems to be about that "box" in the interface, so I changed the BUR.

Yeah, at a glance that seems to be how it's used most of the time. One needs to use something like viewfinder ~camera ~phone ~camcorder to find actual visible viewfinders (the device). Though I think it works fine as it is, even with the occasional 'mistag' when camera gets tagged even when no such device are visible on-screen. No need to disambiguate between the frame and the actual viewfinder device itself.

Recording meanwhile seems slightly more problematic, now that you have brought it up. Despite its wiki (and the name) making it 'clear' that it should only be used when recording is taking place (e.g. "REC" letters, red circle, etc), people seem to use it from time to time for when no actual recording is happening. post #4432588 takes the cake here, with an actual viewfinder (and camera frame) in view, but tagged recording instead of viewfinder despite no indication a recording is taking place. There's also posts like post #3318591 where the actual act of recording is taking place (but without the viewfinder or "rec" letter/button/circle in view), but that one's more understandable (anyone who doesn't read the recording wiki will likely make the same mistake).

Still, eh... probably just leave recording as it is for now, unless someone wants to garden it.

Edit: Wait, never mind, I failed my reading comprehension. post #3318591 is an accurate use of the tag as defined under the recording wiki. Any act of recording counts, even if the 'camera' frame isn't visible. So, yes, it's working fine, and the proposed camera_frame -> viewfinder utility alias will definitely greatly help avoid similar problems like what has happened in post #4432588.

This is correct, on Danbooru viewfinder refers to the camera frame (the box over the image), where in real life the viewfinder is the thing you look through on the camera to see what you're taking a picture of. Arguably we should call it camera frame instead.
