Alias Strapless Shirt to Tubetop

Posted under Tags

Ambivalent on this because strapless_shirt seems to be used for some examples that probably better qualify as bustier, bodice or corset (probably because the tagger can't remember the correct garment name, or has difficulty deciding between two or more similar ones). Those examples tend to be held by laces (implied to be drawn tight) or sashes/ropes/'garters' instead of the elasticity of the fabric itself. Some even have visible buttons.

That said, tubetop itself also seem to have similar problematic examples like for Jean Gunnhildr's. So maybe we should just proceed to alias and then garden out those examples. And I suppose proceeding with the alias also gives use the convenience of using all those *color*_tubetop tags.

Honestly I feel that the tubetop tag is being overused for anything that lacks straps. A tubetop is as the name sounds a tube composed of elastic fabric worn over the top. They lack structure beyond their elastic nature, so things like post #4440229 that features structured cups for the bust really aren't tubetops. Otherwise even strapless bras would all be considered tubetops.

-1 Tubetops are form fitting from top to bottom, however we have posts like post #4569765 where the fabric is hanging off the breasts and loose at the bottom. I would in no way call those tubetops.

Yeah... that is problematic.

That's a bodice, I think.

*checks*

Yeah, it is. Always confused about the corset/bodice/bustier distinction.

Anyhow, I changed my mind after reading the above two (thread) posts. Tubetop is indeed problematic, so changing vote to against.

This. A tubetop is a modern piece of casual clothing. Google images shows you what it looks like. Flooding it on things like Jean Gunnhildr's outfit (as it previously was, until it was cleaned up just now) is super dumb. This is another case of uploaders flooding tags with garbage because all they care about is maximizing their tag count with anything that looks vaguely applicable.

It was flooded with Jean Gunnhildr's outfit singlehandedly by the OP the day before they created this thread.
