Joseph Joestar

We have two separate tags for Joseph Joestar: Joseph Joestar and Joseph Joestar (young). This is nonsensical, or, one might even say, bizarre.

• Several images are tagged as both, despite not featuring both versions. post #4449780, post #4367338, post #4303719, post #4300233, just to name a few.
• The tag for his appearance in the part where he's the main protagonist has a qualifier but for the part where he's a secondary character doesn't?
• They're literally the same person.

I suggest having joseph joestar (young) and joseph joestar (old) which both imply joseph joestar.

+1 bc when I see the name Joseph Joestar I think of the young version, and prefer the Stardust Crusaders version as being old Joseph

I believe that Joseph Joestar (Young) shouldn't have a qualifier, in parts because of Joseph Joestar (tequila). If we had an approach similar to Fate series, Tequilla Joseph and Old Joseph would be variants of Young Joseph, which is the main Joseph in every sense: its Joseph's depiction as the protagonist of his own part, has the largest number of posts, and its arguably the version of Joseph that comes to mind most of the time when people think of "Joseph Joestar". Old Joseph is quite relevant in Part 3 however, but still not as relevant as his Part 2 version (and in Part 4 he's a side character that only appears a few times)
Just to give an example, if we maintained the "(Young)" qualifier, Tequila Joseph's tag would be something like Joseph Joestar (Young) (Tequila) in Fate style approach.

I suppport that we either:

• Take out the qualifier from Young Joseph (which is the main and most relevant depiction of Joseph for the reasons I explained above) and give a qualifier to Old Joseph instead.
• Have both Young and Old Joseph with qualifiers implying Joseph Joestar like Aqros's suggestion.

Strong -1 on making young Joseph the main tag, I'd rather we rename the old Joseph tag for consistency.

If we had an approach similar to the Fate series, because there are more than 3 character tags, all three should be implied to Joseph_Joestar_(all).

Still, most of the time (if not all) Part 2 Joseph is the main version of the character. In all promotional material about JoJo in general, its Part 2 Joseph who gets attention (like in post #4449780). And Old Joseph is always referred to as Old Joseph, not as just Joseph. It simply makes more sense for the Joseph Joestar tag without qualifier to refer to Part 2 Joseph, while Old Joseph gets the qualifier, becoming Joseph Joestar (old).

This makes no sense, if we acknowledge it's confusing to have only one unqualified why would we make it even more confusing by just swapping the qualifier around? Especially given that these tags are as old as Danbooru. If we're fixing this, both should have the qualifier.

That's not what I mean. I'm not against both having qualifiers, I'm saying that if one of them shouldn't have the qualifier and be the main tag, it should be Part 2 Joseph, not Old Joseph like how it is right now.

It seems there's at least some agreement that we should give a qualifier to Old Joseph. The plan is to imply both Young and Old Joseph (and maybe also Tequila Joseph, as it has more than 100 posts) to a new Joseph Joestar catch-all tag in another BUR, following Aqros' suggestion.

You can't rename tags with more than 200 posts. The only way is to create an alias and then unalias after that.

• Joseph Joestar - catch-all tag, all posts with the character
• Joseph Joestar (young) - posts with younger version, as the protagonist of Part 2

• Joseph Joestar (tequila) - the crossdressing disguise (At first I thought it was exclusive for Young Joseph, but there's a post of Old Tequila Joseph: post #1408178)

I don't still don't fully understand the difference between all the different Josephs, but this approach makes sense to me.

How should we tag tequila going forward? Would we also add the appropriate young or old tag, or would the umbrella tag be enough on its own?
