Energy weapon implications

Aren't energy guns energy weapons? Gun implies weapon, so...

I'm seeing quite some overlap here, I can't quite see the difference between energy sword and energy blade, but if my assumptions are correct energy melee weapons should imply energy blade.

As for the shape of the weapons... in popular culture many people are bound to know that this is an energy sword (don't just take it from me), despite not looking a tad bit like a sword. This is because the term doesn't just apply to human craft, but alien technology as well, and the alien civilization that built it calls it a sword. Here's the same guy from earlier making a mention on whether or not it's a sword. However, I think we can agree that it looks more like an energy blade, which is why I proposed that implication.

Now, beam saber should be aliased to energy sword or energy blade. Same problem I had earlier, looking at some posts I can't really see any major differences, it's a blur.
The beam saber wiki doesn't help it stand out, it's not much different from a lightsaber, and can easily fall into the energy category. It's rather vague too, it's basically an energy blade in the way it's written.

I would say energy sword, energy blade, and beam saber should be aliased into the same tag. I don't know what the difference between these things is supposed to be. And having something like light saber -> energy sword -> energy blade -> energy weapon is too much.

The other tags (spear, axe, claws, lance, and whip) are really too small for implications, some only have a handful of posts.

Energy blade is apparently for any bladed weapon made of energy that isn't a sword. So things like post #3989726 (bayonet), post #3519928 (scythe), and post #3485436 (saw). Of course, its vague name means it's been used for swords just as often as anything else, it can probably just be merged with energy weapon.

Beam saber is an energy sword consisting solely of a mechanical hilt with a blade formed entirely of energy projected from the hilt. Similar to a lightsaber in concept, it's usually differentiated by a more volatile appearance compared to a lightsaber's 'clean' look. Signature weapon of Zero and Mobile Suits. I think it's recognizable enough for its own tag, but if we don't want to keep it it can be merged with energy sword.
