Translate Pixiv Tags Script Suggestion

Posted under General

I have a suggestion for the Translate Pixiv Tags script. I had a similar script b4 and one of the most useful features was the ability to copy an artist's name to the clipboard with a single click. I was wondering if the script author would consider adding similar functionality to TPT. Thanks.

Not many people would use this so I'm not sure if it worth adding extra buttons for it.

Ummm...plenty of people would use it. First off, you could copy the name to search on other boorus. Or you could copy the name for easy tagging...one click to copy and then past it in the tag field. That is as long as the name copied to the clipboard had underscores like a tag. Right now it's annoying to have to struggle to select that tiiiiny little name, then fill in all the spaces with underscore to convert it into a tag.

If you're uploading to Danbooru and using the post/batch bookmarklets as suggested (bookmarklet page), then the artist tag automatically gets populated when you upload it.

Also, I agree with evazion that the functionality you desire isn't really something that most people would need or use. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't need it because the upload bookmarklet already provides the artist name upon upload. If I want to search for posts by that artist, well the TPT script provides a link that does that as well (the ">>>" link next to Posts).

As far as other boorus go, well TPT isn't made for them or geared to ever support them. In that regard, the script comes as is. From what I know though, most boorus have autocomplete. You literally have to type at most a few letters before the correct artist is selected in most cases. Additionally, many boorus use different tags for the same artist, so there's also that aspect as well.

Finally, copying anything to the clipboard is not a trivial task. I know as I'm a script writer and I've tried my hand at using it in the past. As I understand it though, it's made hard for a reason, as malicious sites/scripts have used that as an exploit to copy things into/from the users clipboard.

Bottom line, you're better off just using the mechanisms already provided by the script as is, and also by this site and the other boorus.

You would be surprised how often I can fumble up those first few letters especially with Romanized Japanese names...and picking that singular artist out of dozens of options can be difficult because I've usually only glanced at the artist's name for a few seconds. I imagine the same would go for an asian person trying to pick out a western name (jeff, jeoff, jeffery, jefferson, etc.) Hitting a single button that grabs the artist's name is a lot easier.

I had a friend who made me a script before that did this exact thing I'm asking for. He didn't seem to make a big deal about it although obviously I don't know the work that went into it as I am only a very amateur coder myself. Unfortunately it seems like he disappeared from the internet and his script no longer works because Pixiv decides to update their site design about once every 6 seconds it seems.

You need to improve. Nobody else has that difficulty that I'm aware of.

Create your own patch of the script then.
