[REJECTED] Coat colour implication

Posted under Tags

BUR #2225 has been approved by @evazion.

create implication white_coat -> coat
create implication black_coat -> coat
create implication blue_coat -> coat
create implication grey_coat -> coat
create implication green_coat -> coat
create implication purple_coat -> coat
create implication yellow_coat -> coat
create implication beige_coat -> coat
create implication orange_coat -> coat

Reason: Red coat and brown coat already imply coat so it makes sense that the other colours do as well.

The question which still hasn't really been resolved is whether we want to keep coat and jacket colors separate or to merge them. I'll do this for now, but this shouldn't be treated as ruling out the idea of merging them.

I just noticed that beige coat was included in this. I think that should just be aliased to brown.

There are at present 35 beige_* tags for clothing and accessories with a count > 0. Most of these are scarcely populated. The biggest one, beige_sweater, is up to nearly 500 posts.

There are also a handful of light_brown_* and tan_* clothing tags currently in use, none of which have cleared the 50 post mark.

Personally, I'm not very enthusiastic about tagging clothing with colors not listed in tag_group:color. Some other folks here might feel differently, and it's fair to let them weigh in. But if we're going to nuke beige_coat, we might as well do the same with all the other beige_* clothing tags.

Something like post #3789126 is not what I'd imagine when it comes to "brown", and this image is the prime example of what I would be inclined to use "beige" on, but if others would rather not have it I'm not fussed. Beige coat was included in the BUR purely on the basis that it's used often enough to have justified inclusion.

I'd probably tag that with grey instead since that's what it looks like to me.

The problem with such colors is that, due to the wide variety of different monitors and their color calibrations, someone might see that as more of a brown color, or even yellow or pink, while another might see it as complete gray. There's not much use in trying to tag those very specific colors that don't fall into the major groups unless we start enforcing the use of a color picker.
