Help with artist tag "bayeuxman"

Posted under Tags

The artist Ivo Naldo uses "Bayeuxman" as his business name for all of his current social media, Ivo Naldo is actually the artist's real name. I've tried to request a tag alias but he doesn't have more than 50 posts here yet. I have also tried to create an artist tag for "Bayeuxman" but it said it was already taken somehow. What should be the best thing to do in this case?

You can bypass the first problem with checking the box at appears at the bottom after getting that message, it should let you bypass the requirements. The second problem is because there already exists a bayeuxman artist tag made for the same artist 3 years ago, given that they only have 31 posts on the former the posts and URLs could just be moved manually.

Thank you, now I've finished requesting the alias!

From my own experience, it seems like it is Danbooru's preference to use an artist's real name if known, even if they have a preferred pseudonym.

Could you explain me why, please? Because I think it is easier for people to search more of the artist's work by their business name used for social medias, and also in the case someone wants to contact the artist if he/she's a freelancer...

Some artists frequently change their aliases or use multiple aliases at the same time, but we want to collate all their works under one name, so using real names – when known – makes most sense. Commonly used aliases are also directly connected to the artists real name via Danbooru’s alias feature so that users can easily search for posts using the artist’s alias. All aliases and all known websites and social media addresses are available in the artist’s profile, which is easily reachable via the question mark next to the artist’s tag, in case a user wants to know more about an artist or contact them.

I really think we should move away from using real names in artist tags. There are too many cases of artists requesting name changes because we used their real name. I've already gotten two requests this week.
