Reason: In general, an unusual nail color shouldn't imply nail polish for the same reason green hair shouldn't imply hair dye: artists are not bound by real-world limitations on what colors are and are not possible to occur naturally.
In particular:
- Zombie girls often have grey, black, blue, purple or red nails. In the case of Zombie Land Saga, arguably nail polish should be tagged when their nails appear normal colored.
- Bowsette is all-but universally depicted with black nails/claws. While she could be painting them, it's not impossible that it's just the color they are. (Admittedly, Bowser's claws are white.)
- Houseki no Kuni gems. Gems are naturally the color of their hair and nails all over. Their "skin" is what is fake: they apply a white powder to appear more human.
- Monster girls, due to not being entirely constrained by human biology.
