Disintegration = dissolving?

Posted under Tags

Generally in scientific terms:

Dissolving: Become or cause to become incorporated into a liquid so as to form a solution. Think of it like salt or whatever soluble solid dissolving in water.

Disintegration: The process of coming to pieces. / A nucleus or other subatomic particle emits a smaller particle or divides into smaller particles. Think of it like vaporizing someone into dust.

That is how I see the difference between the two terms.

Very few of the posts with Dissolving are doing so in liquid though and frankly having a separate tag for that seems pointless. My "feeling" is that disintegration is more violent but I would not oppose a merger of the tags.
