Now, there are some flags that do contain the word "grotesque" as a flag reason.
I wanted to ask when exactly this word should be used as I never or only rarely use it to describe a flag.
The reason I ask is that there are appeals that state that using the word "grotesque" is an over-exaggeration, like in post #3104744.
Now, the word "grotesue" is defined on Danbooru with the following excerpt I've found in the ToS:
Grotesque: Any depiction of extreme mutilation, extreme bodily distension, feces, or bodies that are far outside the realm of normal human proportion (for example, breasts that are larger than three heads in size or penises that are larger than two heads in size). Please use the guro tag.
As I mentioned above there are some questions.
One of them would be when to use to word exactly.
Another one would be if the usage of this word per se is already an over-exaggeration.
Apparently these posts should be tagged with the Guro tag: Guro, but should this really be a necessity?
I think that this should be discussed and it should be made more clearly as there seems to be confusion about this word's usage in flags and that goes up to moderation level.
In my opinion, I think the post mentioned above (post #3104744) fits under the definition of the word grotesque since we have here stuff that is "outside the realm of normal human proportion".
Of course this stuff is meant to be drawn like this and it is meant to be exaggerated. The emphasis strongly lies on the ass (most of the times) and breasts, but I would say that this stuff also needs more regulation but shouldn't be prohibited per se. It should be held to higher scrutiny just like "Western".
This brings up the last point: The usage of "grotesque" isn't mentioning a flaw in the image per se, but the word is rather challenging the topicality of such posts. It however isn't attacking the quality of the ass which looks fine in that post if only it were drawn.
