Regarding image resolution

Posted under General

So... I'm in the middle of uploading another doujin, but I just noticed at the bottom of the page where I got it from that there's a download button for the ORIGINAL image, which is a higher resolution.

I'm pretty embarrassed that I didn't notice it sooner, and I know the highest quality is preferred when it comes to uploading images, especially doujins, which have to be scanned.

Not to mention, I have to sign up in order to download the original image. Given the name and general nature of the site (e-hentai), I'm not really too eager to register. It's just a personal thing, you know?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is...

Should I keep going with what I'm able to access, or should I just suck it up and register so I can download the images in their original resolution?

Right, just giving up on uploading that doujin in either form is my position.

Ah, I see. That's a shame. And kinda awkward, 'cause I've got a few pages already uploaded from before and now the rest of it won't be uploaded. What will happen to them? Will they just be deleted?

The pages are still pending, so maybe they will be. But I'm just one user, without even approval power. Maybe someone else will approve them. If the other pages do end up getting uploaded, I'd prefer at least the 'original' versions of the remaining pages...

You should never upload sample sized images. Resized E-Hentai images, besides being lower resolution, are also badly compressed with noticeable artifacting.

I would help in uploading them, but I'm kind of iffy on long comics like this. I have approved and uploaded some, but I tend to judge them on whether almost every page has some stand-alone value. That's an important criteria in my mind since Danbooru is not meant to be a manga hosting site.
