Artist Wiki Help?

Posted under General

I feel like I've gotten the hang of everything but this section of Danbooru, but so anyways, just a couple questions.

How do you mark a link on an artist's wiki as dead? Cause I recently came across a few and tried to update the pages accordingly but no matter what I did it always included the text "(dead)" in the hyperlink or in a completely separate URL line. What is the correct way to do this so I can do so in the future?

Also, how do you change the name of an artist in the wiki? I recently came across this artist's work: http://danbooru.donmai.us/artists/85031, but could not find them here easily at first since they had a completely different name as of now. Links: https://twitter.com/nyouico9/ and http://hanakobako.x.fc2.com/main.html and http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=4757193

It seems to be like Hinadzuka (or hinaduka, not sure what standard of romanization applies here) as of now, although the hyperlink in their twitter bio still matches the wiki entry.

And I guess as a follow-up because of that little detail, is it necessary to change this artist's wiki entry?

Thanks for any help in advance.

An artist's wiki page is a different thing than their artist database entry. In the case of this artist, they have a database entry (artist #85031) but not a wiki page (hanpen (hannpenn2)). You can write "(dead)" on links in a wiki page (I've seen some users use strike-through text as well, e.g deadlink) because that's just text, but the links in the database entry are different. They're not there to be readable, they're to help the automatic artist detection system know where this artist has posted in the past and currently posts now. So it's a plain list of links with no formatting. Leave the dead links alone, and just add the new links in with them.

If you want to rename an artist, fill out a bulk update request for an alias from the old name -> new name, and put the number "7713" in the "Forum topic" field so it shows up as a post in the artist aliases thread.

The artist's name on their Pixiv, Twitter, and blog is "ひなづか 凉", and they give "りょう" as the reading for 凉 on their homepage, so according to the romanization standard their name would be "hinazuka_ryou". Sometimes artist names are given a qualifier to help disambiguate them; usually it's the circle name ("hinazuka_ryou_(hanakobako)") or the artist's Pixiv login name, which you can find by reading the URL of their feed ("hinazuka_ryou_(hannpenn2)"). As far as I know, circle name qualifiers are preferred to other forms of qualifiers. I'm not sure whether or not this artist would need a qualifier at all, though

As to what changes are necessary: You should definitely add the new links, and either rename the artist or add their new names to the "other names" field (even if you do rename, you'd need to put their old name and the Japanese version of their new name there anyway). Since you had trouble finding them, I'd encourage you to do a rename. If you want to show which links are still active, you can create a wiki page for them. See some examples of what artist wiki pages look like: 1, 2, 3

Sorry if I explained any of this in a confusing way
