Backlog of Implication/Alias/Update Requests

Calling all of the active admins here to address the current backlog of requests, with the oldest pending request being submitted 4 weeks ago.

Since the promotion of the recent admins on 05 April, there hasn't been any consistent resolution on these requests, just a few here and there.

I'm not sure if albert expects the new admins to handle most of the requests and is waiting for them to act, or the new admins expect albert to keep handling most of the requests and are waiting for him to act... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Basically, who's the primary on these actions (and secondary, and so forth), and what kind of time period can people expect for a resolution when submitting a request, either rejected or approved?

For now, I've decided to approve artist aliases after some sanity checking, and other things that are non-debatable at a glance, to reduce workload on others. I originally intended to approve those ASAP but somehow didn't have any spare time last week due to work. As for other unapproved requests, most of those have some sort of discussion going on.

And I'm pretty sure all of us except Albert are reluctant to reject a request, that's why they are piling up. We're going to have to decide on what to do with that.

I'm with Type-kun. So far I've approved the requests in topic #12719 and topic #12754, which were uncontroversial requests and really just tag maintenance.

The general impression I got from the admin promotion thread is NWF Renim is the head decision-making admin in place of Albert/then-jxh2154 while we're lieutenants who take over during prolonged absence. It's why I've been taking a wait-and-see approach.

I do think that it would be better if alias/implication/update requests are handled by the newly promoted admins, simply because they read the forum more and should be more well-versed with all the nuances and practices.

One issue that remained unresolved since new admins got promoted, as far as I can see, is that they did not properly agree on a way in which they are going to handle issues and work together. Particularly, how they are going to resolve situations where two admins have different opinions. It can be done by either following some order of seniority or conducting a vote within the three of them.

Hmm, I think that it would be much better if admins adopted the opposite approach. That is, if they wouldn't worry too much about rejecting requests and rather be cautious with approving them.
Rejecting a request does not cause any harm, it can always be submitted again if/when people reach an agreement. Approving a request, on the other hand, can create some problems, if the issue wasn't discussed sufficiently and/or had an unwanted aspect to it. The main risk with such approvals is that there is no convenient way to revert them once they take effect.

My time has gone done a huge amount during the week cause of a new job. Was mostly focusing on fast things I can get during the week when I had time and mostly going to be active during the weekends. Some threads though seemed to have been left up in the air in the middle of discussions, so was waiting on potentially more input before going over it.

Anyways, I've hammered out a good chunk of them out and left questions on a few others. Will be hammering out more of them.
