Illustrations with no source

Hi.

I have a friend who draws manga really well, but he doesn't have *any* online profile where he posts his illustrations. I've posted some of his illustrations on Nico Seiga on my own personal account, but would like to post others here. I know he doesn't mind it; he just doesn't want to do it himself.

Is it okay to post some of his stuff here even if I can't point to a source URL?

(P.S.: I may post practicing copies by mistake, in which case I think it should be deleted; don't hesitate to do so).

Post all the illustrations you want to upload on your Nico Seiga account, then link back to them when you upload those illustrations here.

Ehh, but the Nico Seiga account has my nickname instead of his, and I don't think I'm in a position to create an actual account profile for him and post stuff. Danbooru has the benefit that it's typical for other people to post your stuff, so it doesn't feel wrong.

That Nico Seiga account was more of an experiment to see what people would think of his illustrations.

If I have any other options, please let me know.

Create a Pixiv/Tumblr/DeviantArt account under your friend's nickname and upload his illustrations there. That should serve as a good source without solely giving you the credit.

But isn't it okay to just leave the source blank? What's the point if he really doesn't have any online pages, the artist tag should work just fine in this case, no?

If the image was originally posted by the artist to their website/account/profile, then a link to it is highly preferred. If the original link is not available (e.g. due to it being deleted, unknown, or was originally posted to an image board or host), then posting it without the source is fine as long as the tags are correct.

Danbooru, as far as I'm aware, is primarily a reposting and not a hosting website. It's preferable to have a source on the internet that the images are pulled from. There are times when I've had to upload the images directly, but that's usually only when the images can't be found on the artists website or another image hosting website, e.g. images from Yandere, Gelbooru, E-Hentai, Google, et cetera, or if the image is in a format that can't be uploaded directly like a PDF.

You know that if you leave the source blank someone's just going to find your nico seiga account and put that as the source anyway since they won't realize you're not the artist.

I usually see drawfags uploaded with the source "Image Board"

Right, Danbooru automatically changes the source link from several image boards into "Image board" since it would 404 anyway.
