Questions on uploading

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, so I apologize if this isn't the right forum for these types of questions. I cannot upload yet since I am new, but I had a few questions about uploading. I read the guidelines on uploading on the wiki, and I was wondering if I had to have a source on an image to upload it to Danbooru. As in, does the image need to be available on a site like pixiv or deviantart before it can be uploaded? Also, I noticed there was a rule on self-posting artists, but does that include the commissioners of the work? There are a few works I have commissioned that I am considering uploading, but I do not want to violate any of the rules of this site or upset the admins. I respect what this site does in hosting good quality anime artwork, and I want to make sure I am within the rules myself.

If you're not sure if the picture you're posting is on Pixiv or DeviantArt, use Google Image Search or Saucenao just to make sure. As for uploading, if the artist has specifically requested to the admin this website not to have his or her works hosted here, then those works are banned and you can't upload them. Otherwise, it's free game. Commissions don't count as self-uploading as you didn't draw the work yourself.

Thank you for the information. For the pictures without sources, I am talking about the commissions, as far as I can tell, are not uploaded on any site. They were sent to the client directly.

You may upload commissions without the source. Just make sure to look for it some time afterwards on the artist's websites.

It's nice to indicate that the image is a personal commission that (currently) doesn't exist on the web; if it isn't mentioned in the artist's commentary, I'd say put it in the Source field.
