Tag discussion: perspective

Posted under General

I apologize if this has already been discussed before, but this is a pretty terrible keyword to search the forums for.

I noticed that the wiki for perspective doesn't seem to match the posts tagged with it, and only gives one example which is the extremely basic "foreground subjects are larger than background subjects", with both of the characters being drawn in a flat manner by themselves.

Should this tag be redefined, or clarified? Does it apply to the way the characters or backgrounds are drawn, or to the image composition?

If it applies to the characters, should it only be tagged if it is a very noticeable part of the image, as in post #2111769, or should it also apply to posts that simply have an unorthodox camera angle as in post #1909675? Does it apply if there is foreshortening, as in post #1470697, and what about posts that are simply 3D-looking but without any specific emphasis on the 3D aspect, as in post #2212123?

If it applies to the background, does it necessarily have to take up a significant fraction of the image and be the main focus, as in post #1990665, or should it be tagged as long as the background is 3D, as in post #2196529? What if it's an insignificant part of the image, as in post #2174289?

If it applies to the image composition, is the rule of thumb "tag it with perspective as long as the image represents a 3D world"?

I would appreciate it if experienced taggers/curators could chip in on the discussion.
