General question on scoring decay

Posted under General

I've noticed this a lot recently... see a post with a bunch of favorites, score is about in line with the # of favorites (since favoriting adds 1, this makes sense). Come back later, and the score is way down.

Using the completely innocuous post #2183681 as an example. It's got 7 faves, score 3 (at the moment) - while it's not a fave of mine, I'm using it as the example because the art is fine and it seems completely unobjectionable. Are there, say, people just autodownvoting everything boatgirl because they hate how much of it there is, or is there some score mechanism I'm missing like a decay over time? I did some searching on wiki and help and forums and couldn't find anything other than the upvote and favoriting doing +1 and downvote and unfavorite doing -1.

Ah, I see. That would make sense then, thanks! I guess gold people tend to fave things fast then other people come along later and fave and you get a gap and that's what I'm seeing.

I see the opposite thing usually. An image will get a -1 or -2 at the outset, but often, it ends up to a positive 2 or 3 after a few days.

Any examples? I don't see that, but I generally go for cute things, which get voted up fast. I believe you, just looking for the sort of post where that happens - next time it happens.

And now back to -1... still even at -1, 1, -2 or 2 it's pretty much noise.

( Personally I think that's hideous, but technically, okay. )

And that's back up to 1 right now, which makes it a great example. Thanks for both of these.
