If this was actually "cash-grabbing" it would be advertised as a feature for gold accounts rather than being completely unannounced, and it wouldn't have already been reverted several hours ago.

It's not live on the site because the site is only updated like once a week.

For non-gold accounts, the following searches will use the sequential paginator versus the numbered paginator: multitag searches, any search with a metatag, any search on Safebooru, any search if you have hide deleted posts enabled

That's version 2.86. It won't be reverted until 2.87.

You're right, seems the site was updated.

Not showing up as back to old behavior for me. Should I Log out and back in to force a refresh or is it not updated or what?

Edit: This is being very weird.

Some artist tags are giving me numbered pages but other searches are giving me just prev and next.

Example: Touhou gives me prev / next. Tani_takashi gives me numbered options

The way databases handle pagination is that if you want, say, page 100 of a search with 20 posts per page, it finds the newest 2000 posts that meet the search criteria and then throws away 1980 of them. aNNNNNNN/bNNNNNNN are much kinder to the database than regular pagination once you get past the first couple dozen pages.

Numbers should be back although there may be weird bugs with timeouts triggering the sequential paginator. I'll suss those out in the coming days.

Numbers are better. Please bring back numbered pages. It makes browsing the new entries far easier and the "next" and "previous" buttons are incredibly limited.

Edit: Ah, apparently it will be reverted in the next update. Alright then.
