Would Danbooru welcome the works of Yemelyanan, a reddit sketch artist?

Posted under General

On reddit there's someone going by the name /u/Yemelyanan who draws a lot of anime-style sketches, often on request. I wanted to make their works available for more people to see. So I figured I'd upload them to Danbooru, but I got unsure when I read the upload guidelines (I haven't uploaded anything before). Does their sketches meet the quality standard set by Danbooru's moderators?

The ones I've collected are all Girls und Panzer fanart. Here's some of my favourites:

I collected all the Girls und Panzer sketches I could find on the /r/GIRLSundPANZER wiki if you want to see the rest. I've tried to sort them in the order that they were drawn. So the quality should increase as you go down the list. I talked with /u/Yemelyanan and this was the prefered place to provide as source for the sketches too, as some of the sketches were posted under a diffrent username that they don't want connected with this username (if you dig deeper you'll see that some of the image links go to a DeviantArt account with the other username, so it won't be a complete secret unless they reupload them). I've confirmed that both usernames are the same person though.

Uhh.. I am no mod, but I'd abandon nearly all of the pictures due to characters' faces/facial expressions: for me they just don't feel right (especially this one). There's one I find appealing to the eye, but still, sketches are sketches, and what's worse, it's traditional media (pencil), which does make all arts look way less clean.

In short, if you still want to upload the artist's works, you have to sift them first instead of uploading everything. A good idea would be to peek at other images of Danbooru, especially pencil sketches, to have a rough idea what's good and what's not. Oh, and don't forget to check deleted ones as well.

None of these fit my standards of approval, and I doubt the others would approve them either. They show the artist has some potential though, so maybe after they raise their game it would be a good idea, but even still, its going to take more work. For comparison, the images should approach this standard: post #2033114 or post #1906690. Both are real physical drawings, but they compete with the digital art here in precision, style, and composition.

When considering images for upload, you need to factor in a certain quality that is best learned from looking at some of the best contributors and approvers. Look at the highest rated and well liked images, and you'll see some names popping up repeatedly. Some like psich or NCAA Gundam come to mind as the most consistently good IMO.
