Search "API Key" on wiki

Posted under Bugs & Features

I wanted to search the "API Key" on the wiki, so I put "API Key" into the wiki search box, and that resulted in

New Wiki Page

Title
[ API Key ]

Is this really what should happen? I thought I would get something along the lines of "page not found, do you want to create it?"
But without asking or info, start creating a new wiki page, when a user seemingly wanted to search info on that topic?

Or is the wiki only meant as info for tags about images / videos, but not for info about danbooru / it's software etcetera?

Information about the API is at help:api. The wiki contains many pages about Danbooru itself; the names of these pages have prefixes such as help:, about:, and howto:.

I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind automatically showing a creation template for nonexistent pages. I agree that it's a little confusing, but it's been like this for a long time. I've learned to associate "new page" --> "I must've misspelled it."

This has to do with the fact that the search box on Danbooru's wiki doesn't do what the search box on, say, Wikipedia does. On Wikipedia, it will search within pages unless your query matches a page name, in which case it jumps straight to it. Danbooru's wiki search only jumps straight to pages. If you want to search within pages, click "Wiki" on the top row of links, and then the "Search" link on the row below.

Thanks fossilnix for the heads up, indeed when you encounter it first it is weird, since the search box itself states "search wiki pages"... (which you can read as "search for wiki pages", but also "search in wiki pages", or both, like you said, wikipedia does.

Thanks, for some reason I not saw the link to http://danbooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/search but went straight for the search box, since it was there already. xD

But okay, maybe this post of yours truly with your explanation at least will help clear up the very same issue for others to come. Cheers
