Stepping down as admin

Posted under General

I just talked with albert and let him know I need to step down as admin. I think it's pretty clear even without me saying it that I simply haven't been able to dedicate the time to keep up to date with tag proposals, aliases/implications, feature discussion, or the technical side of the site over the past year. A lot of the core regulars are way more on top of this than I am at this point. It's totally unreasonable for any of you to have to wait weeks (sometimes months) for replies to threads, and I don't want to go on pretending that I'll suddenly be able to catch up with it all again.

For now, albert is going to handle threads. I don't know his exact plans going forward but if those of you who always helped me out continue to help out around here it'll no doubt work out.

I'm not leaving the site entirely of course, I still use this place to find lots of neat *and well categorized* art just like the rest of you. And I'll still approve an image here and there. But the whole difference between being an admin vs a regular mod is really the forum and tag management, and I won't be active in those roles anymore. (Er, not even as inadequately active as I've been lately). So after more than six years (2008-11-14!) as an admin, it's back to mostly lurking for me.

Thanks.

Will there be replacement for your position to manage the site along with albert for the time being? I fear the lack of one admin will lead to slower site moderation besides mod jobs, since you are more responsive and more frequent than albert (he might be understandably busy), if forum posts are of indication.

For as uppity as any of us got (hell, I know I've been), you always felt balanced, and that was appreciated.

Agreed. Although you weren't ever-present, you were sensible and impartial when you did act. People get worked up over this stuff, so an admin who can stay cool is precious. Thank you for not fitting the stereotype of people with a number at the end of their username.

You were one of the most helpful people I can recall when I was first getting started in learning the ins and outs of this place. Sad to see you stepping down as admin, but good to know that you'll still be around. Thank you for all of the assistance and hard work over the many long years.

thank you very much dear sir, jxh2154. you're one of the treasured open-minded people in the site. no matter how long or ardent discussions were, you were able to resolve with reasonable and amicable decision. i also owe you my current privileged position. it will be a loss to see you go. thank you once again and see you from time to time. take care.
