Slight issue with notes on IE

Posted under Bugs & Features

When I hover over a note, it stays open even if I move my mouse cursor off of it, and blocks the image I'm viewing. The only way to get it out of the way is to either click the image to remove notes or refresh the page, but the issue is still in place if I want to view the notes.

I'm using IE11, and this problem doesn't seem to affect other browsers (though I only tested it on Chrome). Not only that, but the strange thing is that I never had/noticed this issue until today. Two things that I updated on my computer since yesterday include avast! and my Nvidia graphics driver, so maybe one of those is causing the issue somehow?

I tried using IE11 but could not reproduce this. Also could not reproduce with Chrome or Firefox.

Are there any errors in the javascript error console after this happens? If so, what?

Did either of those install some kind of add-on for IE? If so, try disabling that.

I just tested it out as well, and I don't seem to have the same error as you do.

I use Firefox exclusively for browsing so IE is relatively clean, which might be why I can't reproduce the same error. Try clearing the cache, maybe that could fix this issue. Also as Toks stated, try checking if Avast installed any add-ons, since free AVS tends to install stuff like that. I would rule out the Nvidia update since I installed that last night as well, although it might be the culprit, though unlikely.

SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'timeout'

I noticed that I also get an error when searching for tags in either the Posts or Tags pages:
SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'get' of undefined or null reference
File: posts, Line: 75, Column: 26696

Only avast installed an add-on. Disabled it; no change.
Restarted IE after disabling it, and everything's back to normal.

Updated

Oddly enough, it seems like I'm now getting this with Chrome and it doesn't appear to be an Avast issue. I'll try to see if I can pinpoint the exact cause of the issue.

Edit: Well here is a weird issue. It seems to only be doing it on a select few images. http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1456409 and http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1693870 cause it for example. Opening those links on my machine, causes the tab's CPU utilization to spike to 12%. Stranger still, it only does it when the note is highlighted. Have tried it with extensions disabled, and it still doesn't work. It does work correctly however if I switch browsers.

It seems like it might be an issue with the newest version of Chrome/the beta build.

Is the page freezing and refusing to be refreshed/etc.? Because that's what I've been experiencing in the last 2-3 dev builds. Some notes will hover just fine, but at the same time most notes will just cause the tab to lock up and eventually kill itself or pop up the unresponsive tab dialog.

Yup, I can scroll, but that is pretty much the extent of it. Not sure if the stable release works, because for some reason I can't downgrade on my machine. I would need to pull it up on my laptop to tell you with any certainty.

Okay, never managed to figure out the issue, but upgrading to the 64-bit dev version of Chrome seemed to fix it. It might have just been a resource leak in that build of Chrome. So if anyone else is having this issue, try updating Chrome.
